One Dry Day

Our conservatory roof guarantee, and the little care a panel roof needs

Ten years, insurance backed: that is the conservatory roof guarantee on each One Dry Day roof. Looking after it takes about as much effort as looking after a shed: clear gutters, an occasional rinse, and a glance up after a big storm.

This page covers what the guarantee is, the small jobs that keep panels sound, and exactly what to do if you think something is wrong.

The guarantee in plain words

The roof is guaranteed for 10 years from the day it goes on. Insurance backed means the promise does not rest on our firm alone: an insurer stands behind it. The written terms come with your guarantee once the roof is finished, and those terms are the ones that count, so keep them with your house papers.

It covers the roof we fitted. The glass walls, doors and the frame below were there before us and are not part of it, which is one reason the survey looks so closely at the frame before we agree to put a roof on it. Our fitting process explains that check.

Care through the year

A panel roof has no flutes to fill with green, no sheets to yellow and no glass to streak, so the work is mostly about water getting away freely. None of it needs a ladder on the roof itself.

Looking after a panel roof

  1. Gutters in late autumnScoop out leaves once the trees are bare, and check the downpipe runs freely with a bucket of water.
  2. A rinse in springHose the panels down from the ground, and a long handled soft broom for anything stuck. Washing up liquid in warm water is plenty.
  3. Keep jets off the sealsA pressure washer close to the joints and caps can force water where it should not go. Stay with a hose.
  4. Glance after stormsFrom the garden or an upstairs window, look for lifted caps, debris on the roof and overflowing gutters.
  5. Look up from insideNow and then, check the white ceiling for marks or damp patches, especially along the house wall.

After a storm

High wind and a downpour together are the hardest test any conservatory roof gets. Branches and wind blown rubbish can land in the gutter, and a blocked outlet in heavy rain overflows within minutes. The average town in our rain data had 6 downpour nights a year; the Noise Nights table shows where yours sits.

The next morning, look from the ground. If a cap has lifted or something heavy has hit the roof, do not climb up to it. Take a photo and get in touch.

Your part and our part

Most of looking after a roof is simply noticing. The split below is how it works in practice.

Yours

  • Keep gutters and downpipes clear
  • Rinse the panels from the ground
  • Keep pressure washers off the joints
  • Tell us early if something looks wrong

Ours

  • Come and look at anything you report
  • Put right faults in the roof we fitted
  • Explain plainly if the cause is elsewhere

If something seems wrong

Write down what you saw and when: a drip, a stain, a rattle, a cap out of line. Note whether it was raining and which way the wind was blowing, because that often points straight at the cause. A couple of photos, inside and out, help us arrive with the right parts.

Then contact us through talk to us. We arrange a visit, find the cause and tell you whether it is the roof, a gutter or something else in the conservatory. If you are unhappy with how it is handled, our complaints procedure sets out the next steps.

How long the roof should last

The guarantee runs for 10 years; a well kept panel roof is built to go on long after that. The aluminium skins do not rot, the foam core is sealed inside them, and the parts that wear soonest on any roof are the seals and gutters, which is why the care above focuses on them.

More on lifespan is in how long insulated roof panels last, and the cleaning detail is in do insulated roof panels need cleaning. If your current roof is past caring for, start a quote.

Questions we get asked

Does the guarantee pass to a new owner if I sell?

Check the written terms that come with it, which set out exactly how a transfer works.

Will cleaning the roof myself affect the guarantee?

A hose and a soft broom used from the ground is the care we recommend. Avoid walking on the roof or using a pressure washer on the joints.

Who do I call in year seven if a cap lifts?

Us, through the contact page. Send a photo and we arrange a visit.
