One Dry Day

Terms of service for the One Dry Day website

These terms of service cover using the One Dry Day website, its guide prices and its rain data. They are not the contract for a roof. Should you order a roof, the written price and the contract terms handed to you with it are what bind both sides. The company behind One Dry Day will be named here, with its registered details, once they are published. Questions about these terms go to hello@onedryday.co.uk.

Using the site

Read anything here, use the tools for your own planning and link to any page you find useful. What we ask is that you do not republish large chunks as your own, run automated scrapers against the pages, or do anything meant to slow the site down or break it. The downloadable CSV on the Noise Nights league table is there to be used, and a mention of where it came from is appreciated.

The words, charts, data and photos on One Dry Day belong to us or are used with the owner's permission. Pages may be changed, moved or taken down without warning.

What a guide price is

The figure shown at the end of the quote journey, and the size bands on the cost page, come from the size and shape you pick and nothing more. They know nothing about the condition of your frame, how easy it is to reach the roof, which extras you want, or a conservatory that measures bigger than you thought. No guide price counts as an offer, and seeing one ties you to nothing.

The price that counts is the fixed one written down after the survey. That is the figure you would agree to, and the only one.

Rain figures are estimates

Dry working days, noise nights and every other rain count on this site are worked out from hourly readings of the Met Office 2 km weather model, not from a rain gauge in your garden. A model cell is 2 km across, so a shower that soaks one street and misses the next can be smoothed out. The figures are a fair picture of how often a town is wet, and the method page explains how we counted them, but they describe the past two years and cannot promise next week's weather.

That is also why a fitting date is always confirmed against the forecast for the day itself.

If you order a roof

Any roof we fit is covered by your written quote and the contract terms that come with it: the price, what is included, how the fitting date is set, how and when you pay, plus the insurance backed guarantee on the roof for a decade. If something on this website says one thing and your written quote says another, the written quote is the one that applies.

Your rights stay yours

These terms never reduce your rights in law. The Consumer Rights Act 2015 requires any service to be done with reasonable care and skill, and any goods to match their description, be of satisfactory quality and do the job they are for.

A contract agreed in your home, by email, by phone or online can be cancelled within 14 days of being made, without giving a reason. If you ask for work to begin inside those 14 days and then cancel, you may be charged for what has already been done. The contract paperwork shows how to cancel and includes a form for it.

Limits on our liability

Some responsibility can never be excluded, such as for death or injury caused by negligence, or for fraud, and we do not try to. Beyond that, and as far as the law permits, we are not liable for loss nobody could have foreseen from a mistake of ours, or for loss to a business. The site and its tools are free and offered as they are. We check them with care, but we cannot promise every page or figure is free of error, so use them to inform a decision rather than as the last word on it.

Which law applies

These terms are governed by English law, meaning the law of England and Wales, and the courts there can deal with any dispute. If something goes wrong, our complaints procedure is normally the fastest way to a fix and costs nothing.
